Ecoalga – A Partnership with Lusitanian Style
Ecoalga: Where the Sea Inspires Experiences That Touch the Soul
In Porto Covo, a place where time seems to slow down to listen to the whisper of the waves, the Ecoalga it goes far beyond sustainability: it invites us to experience the sea with all our senses. More than a company, it is a way of life — where each activity is a bridge between nature and human beings, between the silence of the ocean and the beating of the heart.
In partnership with Lusitanian Style, a Ecoalga it offers moments of discovery, tranquillity and fascination, ideal for those wanting to break away from the daily routine and explore the natural world in an authentic way. This collaboration reinforces the shared commitment to sustainable tourism and the enhancement of the natural heritage of the Alentejo coast.
Diving and Snorkelling: Discover the Secrets of the Ocean
Dive With Ecoalga, it is like entering a secret world. In the crystal-clear waters of the Alentejo coast, every descent is a journey into the interior of a liquid Earth, where the algae undulate like submerged gardens and biodiversity reveals itself with an almost sacred beauty. Accompanied by guides who know the seabed like the back of their hand, the dives are safe, educational and profoundly transformative.
A Ecoalga it offers recreational and technical dives, tailored to all experience levels. Among the options available are amateur diving (up to 40 metres deep) and technical diving (deeper than 40 metres), with prices starting from €30 per person. For beginners, there are introductory sea and pool dives, starting from €25. Moreover, the Ecoalga organises tours of Snorkwalk. These combine coastal walks with freediving, allowing you to explore the region's marine flora and fauna. These activities are ideal for anyone wanting a gentle introduction to the underwater world.
Sea Fishing: Adventure on the Water
Na sport fishing, emotion lives on the horizon line. It is an activity carried out with respect and balance, where tradition meets ecological consciousness. Ecoalga believes that fishing is more than catching — it is observing, learning, and giving back to the sea what has been generously lent to us. Each journey is also a moment of contemplation, of conversation, of connection with one's roots.
For fishing enthusiasts, the Ecoalga it offers various forms of sea angling, including bottom fishing, jigging and trolling. These activities take place along the coast between Sines and Vila Nova de Milfontes, providing an exciting and relaxing experience out at sea.
Boat trips: Discover the hidden coves
As Boat trips they are open invitations to rediscover the coast from a different perspective. With the wind in your face and the sun turning the sea golden, it is possible to visit hidden coves, listen to sailors' tales and watch dolphins in the wild. This is tourism with a soul, with time, with truth.
Astronomy: Observing the Sky
At night, when the sky strips off its artificial lights, Ecoalga invites us to look up. Its astronomy experience it is not merely observation: it is celestial poetry. Guided by experts passionate about the stars, participants learn to read the sky like ancient navigators, rediscovering the smallness and beauty of our place in the universe.
A Ecoalga offers astronomical observation programmes during the clear Alentejo nights. These sessions allow participants to contemplate the night sky and learn about constellations and other celestial bodies, making it an educational and inspiring experience.
The Submerged Wine Route
And as if all this weren't enough, Ecoalga presents the Cellar of the Sea — a project that unites innovation and tradition as only Ecoalga knows how to do. Here, wines aged beneath the salt waters of the Atlantic acquire unique characteristics. The pressure, the temperature and the constant movement of the sea create an unprecedented terroir, and each bottle tells the story of the ocean floor. More than just wine, it is a sensory experience, a celebration of marine life in liquid form.
Joaquim Parrinha, agronomist and diver, conceived the “Vinho da Adega do Mar” project. The idea for Vinho da Adega do Mar came about due to the 2017 Sines-Canada Tall Ships Race, decided in 2013. The proposal was to create a wine from the region, placed underwater for the local authority to offer to the ship commanders. In 2015, the first 700 bottles were submerged between Sines and Porto Covo to test underwater ageing. The wines emerge more mineralised, smoother and with a velvety consistency. Last year, the new Adega do Mar was inaugurated in Sines, with a capacity for over 100,000 bottles.
Ecoalga does not sell activities. It shares emotions, cultivates memories and plants hope. Porto Covo is its stage, the sea is its master, and every visitor is a guest of honour in this harmonious dance between man and nature.
