Dates have already been set for the Músicas do Mundo Festival

Once again, the iconic event will take place in two different locations: the village of Porto Covo and the city of Sines.

It is now official: this year, the Músicas do Mundo Festival will take place between 20 and 27 July. As has happened previously, it will take place in two different locations.

From 20 to 22 July, the village of Porto Covo hosts the iconic initiative. The following day, and until the 27th of the same month, the grand festival moves to the city of Sines, about 15 kilometres away.

Created in 1999, the Músicas do Mundo Festival focuses solely on creating a lineup of more alternative artists and musical genres, offering something completely different from the major summer festivals that take place at that time.

In its early days, it was a modest three-day initiative. Over the years, however, it has become one of Portugal's cult events, and it now lasts for a week.

Regarding the new edition, the organisers have not yet revealed the names that will take to the stage. What we do know, however, is that more than 700 concerts have already taken place there, with musicians from over 100 countries – thus living up to the festival's name.

Last year, performers included Carminho, Céu, Lila Downs, Tinariwen, Nneka, Inna de Yard, The Selector, Bab L'Bluz, among many others. Tickets cost between €15 and €60. However, entry was free for the shows that took place in Porto Covo.
