O Fishermen's Trail, Considered, quite possibly, as one of the best coastal trails in the world, it has once again been referenced in foreign media. In this instance, “The Guardian” included this route in a list of favourite coastal paths in the UK and Europe. The text and image that follow make up the chapter dedicated to the Fishermen's Trail, in the article titled: “The air tasted of salty joy, fat seals basking nearby’: readers’ favourite coastal walks in UK and Europe”.
The Fishermen's Trail in southern Portugal is magical. Starting from Porto Covo and finishing in Lagos, walking 225 km over 12 days, staying overnight in rustic villages, cobbled towns and surf spots. Those short on time can hike a smaller section of the trail. The walk has stunning views, rugged cliffs, wild beaches with crystal-clear waters, pine forests, vineyards and meadows of wildflowers. It is possible to spot a lot of wildlife – lizards, storks, cormorants and countless other birds – and the
Wines and seafood in the restaurants along the way are a delight.
