Popular Fair & Festival | Sines

Sines is once again reviving the tradition of popular saint celebration street parties with another edition of the “Arraial Popular” fair, scheduled for 13, 14, 15 and 16 June, in the Castle and streets of the city's historic centre.

During the four days, there will be a maypole at the Castle, with matching musical entertainment and food stalls to support the festivities. Over the weekend (15 and 16 June), Largo Poeta Bocage and Rua Serpa Pinto will host a traditional market.

The most festive popular music dominates the entertainment programme, with appearances by Sons do Minho, Cláudio Rosário, Quarta Série, Duo Kontraste, David Rosa, Chave d’Ouro, Vera Rosado and André Godinho.

There will also be room for calmer rhythms – with Fado da Terra, Tanto Mar and the group Os Compadres da Prosas – and for celebration in the streets (street performances by the Skalabá Tuka collective and the “Ninho de uma Aldeia” Folklore Group).

Especially for children and families, a traditional games area, a Municipal Library space and Storytime by the Sines Arts Centre reading mediation team will be available. The Uh!Topia group will animate the streets and the fair's settings.
