Grândola, Vila Jazz 2023

The final concert of the Grândola, Vila Jazz 2023 Season features Salvador Sobral with the group Alma Nuestra in Grândola. The concert will take place on November 24th, at 9:30 PM, at Cine Granadeiro.

Alma Nuestra is a band created by two friends, Salvador Sobral and Victor Zamora. Both share a passion for the sweet sounds of Latin America and, at the same time, for jazz. They called two other companions and took a spin on the already well-known and timeless songs from Cuba, Argentina, and other South American lands, reinventing them and making them unique and personal.

The show features Salvador Sobral on vocals, Victor Zamora on piano, Nelson Cascais on double bass, and André Sousa Machado on drums. The latter two are two historic names in our jazz scene.

The 2023 Grândola Vila Jazz season featured nine shows with excellent musicians and renowned names on the national jazz scene.

The initiative, organised by SMFOG – Sociedade Musical Fraternidade Operaria Grandolense in partnership with the Municipality of Grândola, is curated by Bruno Santos, a musician and professor at Hot Clube Portugal. At the press conference to present the season, he praised “the courage of the Grândola Municipal Council and SMFOG for joining forces to carry out this jazz series,” which proved to be a huge success.
