St. John's Festival 2024 | Porto Covo

On the 23rd and 24th of June, Porto Covo fills with life and colour to celebrate São João, one of the most eagerly awaited festivities of the year. The event, which will take place in the iconic Largo Marquês de Pombal, will feature a series of traditional activities and plenty of entertainment for everyone present.

Festive Programme

23rd June

• 19:00 Mast-Raising Promise Ceremony The event will begin with the ceremony of raising the traditional promise mast, a symbolic moment that kicks off the St John festivities in Porto Covo.
  
• 21:30 Dance with the Cabana Brothers The night will continue with a lively dance to the music of the Cabana Brothers, guaranteeing music and dancing until the early hours.

24th June

• 19:00 Felling of the Mast On the second day of the celebrations, the felling of the mast will be the highlight of the afternoon. This tradition, which marks the end of the promise mast cycle, will be followed by the offering of delicious biscuits to the participants.
  
• 21:30 Dance with Ricardo Laginha In the evening, Ricardo Laginha will take charge of the entertainment, promising another unforgettable dance.
• 22:00 Cercal do Alentejo Popular March Parade The highlight of the night will be the Cercal do Alentejo Popular March parade, bringing even more colour and joy to the streets of Porto Covo.
• Continuation of the Ball After the parade, the ball will continue, ensuring that the party goes on into the night.
