MAR – Street Art Show

The M.A.R – Mostra de Artes de Rua (Street Art Showcase) 2023 returns to Sines, taking over the streets on September 15th, 16th, and 17th.

The 2023 Programme includes around 26 artistic projects, originating from Portugal, Spain, France, Finland, the United Kingdom and Lithuania.
Spectacles and creations of Circus, Dance, Installation, Music, Theatre, Puppetry, Multidisciplinary and DJ Set, will occupy the streets, historical heritage and natural landscape. Valuing the territory, creating new perspectives on the city and its inhabitants.

The enjoyment of leisure in public spaces is increasingly depleted, also due to technological advancements. These make consumer goods accessible to an ever-growing number of people. The possibility of enjoying “home entertainment” traps the modern citizen in the comfort of their home, with the inevitable consequences of isolation and disinterest in social engagement.

Public space has always been a stage for resistance and transformation. The world is evolving rapidly, and fiercely, towards a self-centred vision that rejects open, inclusive and flexible thinking. Art, as a link for connection and creation, and the enjoyment of public space, by choosing it as the privileged place for encounters and sharing, for building relationships and memories, are urgently needed.
